Book review: YOU ARE A BADASS

“The life you want is right here, right now.”

So I got this book last year for Christmas from an aunt of mine, & quite honestly I was a little offended… a self help book? Seriously? I don’t need this book. However, after reading it, I think EVERYONE needs this book. When I finally picked it up & gave it a chance, it made me think about my life in a whole new light, & really take charge of it. A lot of the things Sincero talks about are things we’ve pretty much all heard before, but her bluntness kinda just kicks ya in the gut & makes you reallllly pay attention. Her approach is feisty & humor filled with each & every page. She tackles so many different topics; money, god, excuses, forgiveness, going for it, fear, happiness, & more. It doesn’t feel as though you’re even reading, instead it’s like you’re talking to a close friend who’s giving you the best pep talk you’ve everrrr had.

“The people you surround yourself with are excellent mirrors for who you are and how much, or how little, you love yourself.”

One of my favorite parts is that she ends every chapter with her most important lesson for her reader. “Love yourself.” She aims to make it clear that self love is where living your best life begins. You have to not only believe in yourself constantly, but also believe that YOU know what YOU want more than anyone else ever could.

“If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If you’re not you’ll find an excuse.”

I began reading YOU ARE A BADASS when I was in dire need of self help. I was struggling badly with anorexia & was unhappy with myself & life in general. I can remember reading certain things, pausing & thinking “holy shit” because what she was saying was so incredibly true & not really something I wanted to hear, but it was something I NEEDED to hear. I’m glad I did.

“Decisions aren’t up for discussion.”

This book honestly gave me the motivation to change a lot of things in my life that I simply wasn’t happy with. It forced me to get to know myself better; my beliefs, my goals, my dreams. It honestly is one of the main reasons I decided to just go for it & create this blog. I could continue to share quotes, and lessons from this book but I won’t in hopes that you guys decide to pick it up and give it a read for yourselves! Sincero, & her blunt, humorous, advice in YOU ARE A BADASS, truly helped me become a better me… or should I say badass? 😉

Pick it up & get ready to really live your best life everrrrrr.
